Where it stands
Parked at the deeper analysis
Parked by Dennis 2026-10-10 (decision queue: park); deepen-2 findings are the re-entry point. Deepen pass 2: a closed-form fast-forward (validated against round 1 and against full-size runs) reaches trip 13.5e6 (about 1.27e15 steps).
Read the full status
There the base-4 counter overflows: a left record, then a full-tape recoding trip that is quadratic in zone size (about 1e16 steps at real sizes) and depends on zone parity. After it, a new counter epoch starts from a new wall. The machine is a multi-epoch shift-overflow counter. The rebuild rule and the epoch recursion are open. Confidence low; not a cryptid so far. Priority call for Dennis: continue (rebuild rule) or park.

About this picture
The standard picture (bbchallenge.org's Default view): each row is the whole tape at one step, time runs downward, and the head's path draws the pattern.
Overview
In one sentence
Bouncer whose turn-back point is a base-4 counter; digits = separators between growing (110101) zones.

Mechanism
How it works: 3 notes
- Tape = left end ... Z2 S1 Z1 S0 Z0 W: zones Z repeat a 6-cell block (110101, rotated); W = fixed 99-cell right wall.
- Separators S have 4 states: 3 bounce the head back, the 4th lets it through, so turn-back depth is a base-4 ruler.
- Z0 gains 1 block per 2 sweeps, Z_k ~ Z_(k-1)/4. The left end, where new digits appear, is not characterised yet.
Figures for Checkpoint A
Every 50 steps. Flat edges are right passes, steep edges left passes; note where each sweep turns back.
One row per round trip; red marks each turn-back. Compare how deep each turn-back goes.
Right edge pinned to 1e7 steps. Thin slanted lines are zone borders; watch the ones at the far left.

Faint inner curves at about 1/4 and 1/16 of the edge are zone borders (the counter's digits).

TM1- machine
1LB1RE_0LC0RB_1RD0LA_0RA0RD_0RF0RA_1RD---(11 transitions apart)- diff
9 transitions after best relabel/mirror (SBCv10 TM4: 8, SOBLv2 TM3: 8 and a HALT proof). Nearest solved overall: 3 transitions, decider certificates only (NG_v1, CPS_LRU_v1, RWL_mod_v3).- note
- Rules/tapes: no (template-shaped tapes collapse or halt at step 1 under this TM). Architecture: yes. SBCv6a's RIncs digit list and SBCv10's signal net are the same kind of digit counter.
Proof strategy & riskshow the formal proof will go · 3 risks to watch
Longitudinal proof in SBCv6a TM1 style: ind lemmas for R1/R2 blocks; one segRLs lemma per separator state (3 bounces + 1 pass) and one for the wall W. The digit list is an Inductive with a WF invariant, closed by multistep_nonhalt + progress_nonhalt_cond. A left-end lemma that creates new digits is still needed.
- ▲Left end not characterised: deep zones reset at the 1.8e8 left record (Z3 32 -> new 6/13). It might be messy.
- ▲Separators differ: two phase types (bounce offsets -10 vs -12) and different inert debris (P0 vs P1). Needs a closed family of separator words.
- ▲Size: several separator/phase cases, so expect 20-40 KB (SBCv6a/SBCv10 scale). qsim and rulefit found nothing, so the proof is by hand.
